Sywell is a country park, set in Northamptonshire between Northampton and Wellingborough. Fishing is controlled by the country park and is now open for night fishing all year round. Tickets are available from the main entrance. The venue is around 80 acres.
Sywell is mainly famous for it's tench fishing, as the tench are plentiful and run to double figures. There are also specimen pike present, along with the odd carp.
There are fairly strict rules, including no tents, no baitboats, barbless hooks only maximum size 8 and no leads larger than 1 oz. These rules are to protect the mouths of the tench who at times were dragged through large weedbeds to land them. The tench seem to like all manner of baits from traditional sweetcorn, through to boilies and can feed through the day as well as during early morning and late evening.
